What to do when it’s midnight and you are stuck in an airport? Oh and traveling solo!!

Well I had such an experience back in April 2013 when I was heading to my friend’s in Singapore after visiting Melaka and Penang in Malaysia. I had a 5-hour layover in the Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  For the price of the tickets with Air Asia, I could not really complain but what is there to do!?!

After arriving from Penang, I could either leave the baggage claim area and head into Kuala Lumpur, KL. However, it was middle of the night and I was a Single Woman. My flight to Singapore was at 5:10am. So it made sense to stay in the airport. Continue reading

Why visit Antarctica?! Reason No.3

Typically when someone mentions Polar expeditions, the word COLD / FREEZING COLD would pop up in conversation. As recent as August 2010, the temperature in Antarctica hit am all time low of -94.7C (-135.8F). However, with the recent Polar vortex dipping South along the Eastern seaboard in North America, Antarctica seems like a winter escape!

As those in the Southern Hemisphere enjoy Summer, expedition tours to Antarctica are in full swing – sometimes visiting Falkland islands and South Georgia islands along the way. The travel season to this region starts in early November and continue until March with departures typically from Ushuaia, Argentina and Invercargill, New Zealand. Continue reading
