Weekly Photo Challenge: Street Life (San Telmo)

Spending a sun shining Sunday at the Feria de San Pedro Telmo is a must when visiting Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The outdoor Sunday fair is not to be confused with the San Telmo market which is indoors and perhaps less lively on Sundays, in comparison. The indoor market have a mixture of small shops selling fresh produce, hard goods and antiques.

The heart of San Telmo Sunday fair can be found at Plaza Dorrego, however I found the stalls running up and down the surrounding streets to be extra fun to explore. Artisans brought their creations. Some artists created art on the spot. Lively music can be heard. Delicious, affordable food can be found readily.

The Museo de la Ciudad at Defensa 219 is very interesting. When I was there, there was a great collection of stained glass windows and doors from various homes. There’s also a great little cafe right beside it.

  1. This feria is one of my favorite places and pastimes in Buenos Aires. Three years ago, my classmates introduced me to a man selling his son’s photos at a booth near the banner in your first photo, and last summer I translated one of his son’s published books into English. We never know where our travels may take us!
