It’s snowing outside right now in Toronto, Canada. The Polar vortex has come back for another visit and the roads are a slushy mess!
This morning what I crave is some fresh fish. I love seafood. Lobster. Fish. Oysters. Clams. Mussels. Shrimps. Abalone. Crabs. You name it – I want them all if possible!
I don’t even want them overly spiced or flavoured. I enjoy them au naturel – maybe just a pinch of salt to bring out the flavour.At the 2013 Tapati festival, this single woman visited Easter island for 1 week and I can remember the fun I shared with a couple from New York. We were on the same flight from Santiago, booked the same hotel for the same length of time and got picked up at the airport by the owner of the hotel, Mauricio. Tapati is an annual festival celebrated and enjoyed over a 2-week period in February. The whole island comes alive! Dance competitions at night under the stars. Fishing competitions. Parade through the streets with body paint and much much more.
Right now, I’m just reminiscing the tasty fish – caught during the fishing competition, then shared with the masses. Just bring a leave to use as a plate – how cool. Most locals brought their whole family for a picnic by the beach. We just brought ourselves. It was such a lovely experience.
